Hatha is considered a gently yoga that focuses on static poses and is great for beginners. However, even though it is gentle, it can still be physically and mentally challenging. This make the entire yoga journey very exciting.
Our Hatha class involves a set of physical postures (yoga poses) and breathing techniques. These poses are practiced slowly and the poses are hold longer than a Vinyasa flow or Ashtanga class.
Hatha means ‘force’ and is more traditionally defined as ‘the yoga of force’, or ‘the means of attaining a state of yoga through force’. So Hatha yoga can be considered as anything you might do with the body.
At Bhavana Yoga Studio we also provide Yin Yoga, a very popular relaxing yoga with deep stretching.
Yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues by holding poses for a longer period of time than you would in other traditional types of yoga.
We also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.
Yin yoga is slower and more meditative than other Yoga types. This allows you tune into both your mind and experience a physical sensations of your body.
Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones.
The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies.
By stretching and deepening into poses, we’re opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely. By holding the various poses, a yin yoga sequence can help restore the healthy flow of Qi in our bodies.
